A pocket-size of hope

Writer: Majken Zein SørensenMajken Zein Sørensen

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on in what seems like ‘forever’. For that very same reason, some people have become almost immune to listening to the media talk about it over the years. However! As we all know; it’s still happening right in front of our eyes, and as we also know, the situation has recently escalated to a frightening level, probably the worst it’s ever been.

Just Vision fills a media gap on Israel-Palestine

Just Vision's executive director, Suhad Babaa and creative director Julia Bacha.

I’ve stumbled upon the organisation Just Vision. It's a team of filmmakers, journalists, storytellers, and human rights advocates who “fills a media gap on Israel-Palestine through independent storytelling and strategic audience engagement, " as their website states. I sat down and watched two of their movies - Budrus and Encounter Point - where peace organisations from both sides of the conflict work together. This tells me there is hope for this sad situation to stop, although the hope is perhaps only the size of a pocket. Still, some steps towards peace are way better than no steps at all!

.

Just Vision has existed for twenty brave years now, and you can meet them in this podcast, in which the group's creative director, Julia Bacha, and executive director, Suhad Babaa, speak about their latest film, Boycott.

.

Currently, Just Vision has decided to show ALL THEIR MOVIES FOR FREE. You can find them on their website.

One of my favourite poems narrated by the author herself; Wild Geese by Mary Oliver.
